Elevating ICP Excellence: CNLBooks and Majelis Dikdasmen PWM Central Java Forge a Global Path for Muhammadiyah Schools

In a significant move to drive digitalization and international standards within the education sector, CNLBooks, in collaboration with Pearson and Praxis Publishing Singapore, successfully partnered with the Council for Primary, Secondary, and Non-formal Education (Dikdasmen & PNF) of the Muhammadiyah Regional Board (PWM) of Central Java. This synergy culminated in an intensive workshop titled “Elevating ICP Excellence: Global Benchmarking, Digital Transformation, and Pedagogical Mastery,” held at the Aston Solo Hotel on Saturday, April 25, 2026.

The strategic event was attended by over 250 participants, including school principals, vice principals, and educators specializing in Science, Mathematics, and English from across Central Java. The Vision for the International School of Muhammadiyah (ISM).

The Secretary of the Dikdasmen & PNF Council of PWM Central Java, Rohmat Suprapto, S.Ag., M.Si., opened the session by emphasizing that the International Class Program (ICP) is a top priority in elevating Muhammadiyah schools to "Excellent" and "Premium" categories. “Our target is to establish a minimum of 35 robust ICP schools across Central Java. This serves as a vital foundation toward realizing the International School of Muhammadiyah (ISM) in the future,” he stated. He further noted that this transformation rests on three pillars: academic excellence, future skills, and character building.

The Head of Acafemic Affairs, Iin Hermiyanto, emphasized that the global standard framework must be an absolute reference for school leaders to improve the academic quality of schools and achieve global recognition.

Three Pillars of Internationalization

The keynote speaker, R. Alpha Amirrachman, M.Phil., Ph.D. (Vice Chairman of the Dikdasmen & PNF Council of the Muhammadiyah Central Board), clarified the true meaning of internationalization. He argued that ICP is not merely a label or a "bilingual" tag, but a comprehensive integration of the national curriculum, global standards, and the core values of Progressive Islam (Islam Berkemajuan). He outlined three key pillars for ICP development:

1. Global Benchmarking: Utilizing objective measurement tools such as the Global Scale of English (GSE) and the CEFR.

2. Digital Transformation: Positioning technology as a strategic instrument for data-driven school management and modern assessment.

3. Pedagogical Mastery: Shifting the classroom paradigm toward student-centered, active, and deep learning.

Specialized Breakout Sessions

To address specific educational needs, the workshop featured three parallel tracks:

Room A (Strategic Management): Led by Iin Hermiyanto, principals explored data-driven management and branding strategies to ensure the ICP program remains high-impact and sustainable.

Room B (English Pedagogy): Tina Priyantin guided English teachers through "deep learning" techniques and the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) for modern assessments, including placement tests and automated progression monitoring.

Room C (Science & Math): Hana Sofiyana focused on integrating critical thinking and technology into science and numeracy, ensuring students remain competitive in a globalized landscape.
